West Lake Loop

The West Lake Loop is a scenic 6 km trail that stops first at the famous Bailey’s Chute rapids, then follows the Clearwater river up stream past some beautiful white water, then circles through the forest and around West Lake, offering peaceful lake views, lush forest, and opportunities for wildlife spotting. The trail is relatively easy and suitable for most hikers, making it a great option for families and day visitors. Along the loop, you’ll pass tranquil shoreline spots perfect for picnics or photography, and seasonal wildflowers add color in spring and summer.

Parking & Access

Parking is available at Bailey’s Chute. For a short trip, you can just walk the 10 minutes into Bailey’s Chute. Bailey’s Chute is a large rapid that the salmon jump up in the fall season. Keep an eye on our Facebook Page to see when the salmon start jumping every year!

Pets

Dogs are welcome on leash. Please clean up after your pet.

Accessibility

The trail includes mostly gentle, even terrain, making it accessible for most hikers. However, some sections may have roots or uneven ground, so sturdy footwear is recommended. Wheelchairs and strollers may be able to navigate parts of the loop, but some areas could be challenging.
