Summer is a fun and exciting time in Clearwater & Wells Gray with so many activities to do. The best part of visiting the area is that you remove yourself from the hustle and bustle, from the higher prices, and for the time you spend in Wells Gray & Clearwater – you get to be a local! We have a lot of activities on offer and many of these are free of charge! Aerial Tour:

 

For a completely unique view of Wells Gray Park, you can consider an aerial tour. A 45 minute trip will take you over many of the highlights of the park, including the Clearwater River, Moul Falls, Dawson Falls, and of course Helmcken Falls.

 

Bird Watching:

 

Wells Gray Park has about 219 bird species. If you are an avid birder we have a checklist that will help you make the most of your time here.

 

Boat Tours:

 

A boat tour is a great way to explore Clearwater and Azure Lake. Tours range from one hour to full day trips. Learn about the geology that shaped the lakes and much of Wells Gray Park and see waterfalls such as Rainbow Falls that are only accessible by boat.

 

Camping:

 

Wells Gray Park and Clearwater is seen as a camping mecca with over 350 wilderness campsites to choose from. There are also several vehicle accessible campgrounds within Wells Gray Park.

 

Canoeing:

 

Home to Murtle Lake, the worlds largest non-motorized lake, and the pure, clean water of Clearwater and Azure Lake, Wells Gray Park is BC’s canoeing capital. Take a canoe on your own or sign up to an unforgettable tour ranging from 1 day to 6 days.

 

Events:

 

Listen to homegrown BC music alongside the North Thompson River, learn how volcanoes and glaciation created this beautiful area, and come visit the Information Centre to learn what the area has to offer!

 

Fishing:

 

There are over 100 stocked lakes within an hour of Clearwater. Species range from Kokanee, Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, Dolly Vartan and more.

 

Golfing:

 

There are two 9-hole golf courses in Wells Gray; one at par 35, and the other a par 36. Both of these courses offer challenging obstacles for advanced players, with tricky water holes and bunkers. The design of these courses is intended to suit recreational players of all levels.

 

Health & Wellness:

 

A range of health and wellness products are on offer. These include reiki, Colour Energy, Ionic Foot Detoxing, Chakra Balancing, and woman retreats and workshops.

 

Hiking

Whitewater Rafting:

 

The Clearwater River is known for the best combination of wilderness and whitewater rafting in BC. Trips range from 3 hours to 2 days.

In just half a day, you can visit our three most famous waterfalls, leaving time for other exciting activities.

 

Wildlife Viewing:

 

There is a lot of opportunity to see wildlife in Wells Gray. Bears, deer, and small animals are often seen on the side of the road, and if you’re very lucky you may see a moose! There are also boat safaris leaving multiple times a day from Blue River.
